  • Development and Fundraising Director

Join an exciting growing nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities and connecting diverse communities across our city and the world. This position will begin part-time but has lots of room to grow in scope and responsibilities, based on performance. We are a unique team-based workplace motivated by passion for our projects, and mutual respect for our co-workers and collaborators. We are seeking a mature self-starter with great communication skills who is comfortable taking the lead, directing initiatives and bringing new ideas to the table.

Parameters for this position include:

  • At least four years of professional experience in development and fundraising
  • Writing experience and samples
  • B.A. or higher degree or equivalent
  • National experience a plus
  • Tech skills incl. Microsoft Office Suite & Google Suite, Powerpoint
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, project management, goal-setting, management, communications

 

  • Education Director

    We are looking for homegrown talent with connections in the community, a dynamic energetic self-starter who motivates people, brings in new ideas and builds excitement about the sky’s-the-limit opportunities as part of a experimental art and learning site. The Education Director works with the Artistic Director & Grantwriter/Fundraiser to develop grantable initiatives, and leads creation of partnerships, new programs and a class schedule making full use of Airlift’s workshop, contemporary art site and hundreds of skilled collaborators. Serves as liaison and face of the organization in the Education community. We hope to grow this program substantially and are looking for someone comfortable as a leader and manager, organized and creative thinker, who prioritizes outreach and relationship-building.

Parameters include:

  • 5 years experience in Education field and ideally 10 or more years in the New Orleans area
  • Demonstrable experience in pioneering and leading programs and ideas, and follow-through
  • Tech skills incl. Microsoft Office Suite & Google Suite, Powerpoint
  • Literacy and familiarity with current Education criteria and concepts

 

  • Community Outreach

Residents of the Lower or Upper 9th Ward with pre-existing ties to those communities are encouraged to apply. Job responsibilities include expanding our impact in our immediate neighborhood and beyond, through hands-on outreach and new programs that attract diverse audiences of all ages.

Parameters include:

  • Existing community ties in the Upper and/or Lower 9th Ward neighborhoods.
  • At least 5 years as a New Orleans resident.
  • Outgoing friendly personality and ability to create relationships and connections
  • Attention to detail and accountability, follow-through on initiatives.

VOLUNTEERS:
We accept volunteers every weekday from 10am – 4pm, and on weekends & events.

We have both indoor and outdoor tasks working alongside our artists and builders. Volunteers who log 40 hours or more are rewarded with event tickets…

When coming to The Music Box Village:
– Our parking lot is reserved for those who need special assistance. Please bike or cab if possible.
– Dogs are not allowed.
– Please do not smoke in, around or near our musical houses.
– Seating is limited, bring picnic blankets or your own seating.
– The venue is outdoors and unpaved, please dress accordingly.
– Fridays-Sundays, we provide a reasonably priced bar offering water, cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks. Proceeds support our project!
